Future Health Skills: Building the capacity of Geelong’s healthcare workforce – Juliet Williams
As the Health sector continues to grow and change in the Geelong region, current staff need upskilling in priority areas in ways that do not impact too much on their day to day duties. Potential staff (students) need to be better prepared for what is to come on placement, and as new employees in the health sector.
What are the priority areas and where are there gaps in the current training materials? Can these be developed as shared resources and assist to build the capacity of our local healthcare sector into the future? These are some key questions and objectives of the Future Health Skills project, a collaboration of the regions’ biggest healthcare providers; Barwon Health, Epworth and St John of God Health Care.
Together with the Geelong Region Local Learning & Employment Network (GRLLEN), the Victorian government and The Gordon, this is a collective effort to address some of the pressing workforce issues.
Juliet Williams, Manager from The Gordon will provide an update about this exciting collaboration, and its potential for scalability to other sectors and regions.
