There is a clear need for access to consistent sports provision and participation data in our region. Our State Sporting Associations and Clubs have the data, however LGAs and key stakeholders who are the major custodians of sports infrastructure and drive the planning, advocacy and sourcing of external funding, do not.
As we approach another election period and during a time of unprecedented infrastructure funding being made available, it is more important than ever to have a robust understanding of our priorities based on evidence of need.
This project will develop a structured process for the periodic collection, sharing and analysis of sports provision and participation data for key sports in the G21 region, determine an appropriate platform/provider to hold the data, and establish the governance to support ongoing access and use.
The project is proposed in two phases:
- Discovery, scoping and options paper (Investigate current state, needs and options then report back to G21 for decision on way forward).
- System development, governance, integration and reporting (including the coordination of a collective and meaningful reporting framework).
Optional 3rd phase: Develop advocacy / ‘State of Play’ reports and products for G21 region and individual LGA’s.
